Parents have requested an awareness program about alcohol and drugs prevention for our students during recent Parents’ Association’s class representative meetings. As a result, a Work Group was created for this topic that has been working closely with the school management to look into the possibilities available.
As an initial introduction to this program, we are delighted to announce that the Theatre Group PlayBack will give a performance in the form of a themed, interactive evening for parents. The performance addresses the difficult issues and the problems communicating with teens about drugs and alcohol, and targets the situations they often face with making the correct decision in light of peer pressure. Peer pressure often results in teens stepping out – with their personal boundaries and limits in everyday situations- such as parties where older teens attend and alcohol is readily available.
How do you help your teenager to set boundaries in situations with drink and drugs? The professional actors in PlayBack help you as a parent to keep the lines of communication open with your teenager.
Please join us for an interactive evening with Theatre Group PlayBack performing “Under Influence”.
19.30 arrival and coffee
20.00 – 21.30 performance
The performance is unfortunately only available in Dutch (despite our efforts to provide it in English). However, two of our team members attended a performance (with minimal Dutch skills) and were able to follow the important themes. We will strive to provide a summary in English of the scenes being acted to assist the non-Dutch speaking attendees. With this in mind, we encourage as many parents as possible to participate and support us in this, the first item on our Drugs and Alcohol Prevention program. We can assure you it will be a valuable learning experience for many parents.
To attend this evening, please register through the online parents evening system till Monday 13th May 22h00. https://esbergen.parentseveningsystem.co.uk/

We sincerely hope you will all join us for this special evening and look forward to welcoming you.
