Live Aid is a charity performance organised by Act2Aid and will be during periods 4 and 5 in the Aula. All LiveAid donations will benefit the Ocean Cleanup organization.
Act2Aid has also decided that its main focus this school year will be environmental concerns and the challenges they present. They have chosen the Ocean Cleanup charity since it is tackling an urgent global environmental problem and was founded by a young person, local to our school. Please help us to support this charity by bringing some cash to give to our collectors during the Live Aid event on Friday 20th December.
About the Ocean Cleanup
The Ocean Cleanup was started in 2013 by the Dutch inventor Boyan Slat. He founded the organization in Delft, The Netherlands, his hometown, when he was just 18.
Every year, millions of tons of plastic enter the oceans primarily from rivers. The plastic afloat across the oceans – legacy plastic – isn’t going away by itself. Therefore, solving ocean plastic pollution requires a combination of both stemming the flow and cleaning up what has already accumulated.
The Ocean Cleanup, a non-profit organization, is developing advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. Its work includes research, design and development and has the goal of cleaning up 90% of the world’s ocean plastic.
